Steven Rinella grew up in Twin Lake, Michigan, and migrated out West after graduating from Grand Valley State University, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He fishes all over the country and has hunted for most of North America's big game animals. He's the author of the
Scavenger's Guide to Haute Cuisine, and his writing has appeared in many publications, including
Outside, Field and Stream, Nerve, Bowhunter,
FlyFisherman, DoubleTake, American Heritage,
Playboy Germany, and the annual Houghton Mifflin anthology,
The Best American Travel Writing. The closest thing he has to a permanent residence is the basement of his older brother’s house, in Miles City, Montana.
