Mark Mingain's www.RIHunts.com Has It All
August 10, 2004
If you're an outdoors man/woman shooter or hunter, or someone wishing
to engage in those activities for the first time, you can find all the
information you're looking for by clicking on to www.RIHunts.com
Mingain a few short months has created a site that is second to none
with the information it dispenses with a quick click on your computers
mouse. He is a member of Ducks Unlimited, Wallum Lake Rod & Gun Club,
National Wild Turkey Federation, Federated Rhode Island Sportsmen's
Clubs, a life member of the North American Hunt Club (NAHC), the
National Rifle Association (NRA), and a member of the Northeast Big
Buck Club (NBBC) of Chicopee, Mass.
Last week he attended their awards banquet and there was a great
turnout of members and friends to the event: In fact there was a full
house that took part in the numerous raffles, won door prizes,
received awards, and overlooking all were the mounts of game
decorating the trophy walls. Kudos go out to Chair Jeff Brown and crew
for organizing such an awesome program. For more news visit Mingain's
website or www.bigbuckclub.com.
Mingain's site also has a Forum Index consisting of Political issues
facing hunters, trappers and firearm owners, plus current local and
national news that effect them. The forum index also contains a
section for critics, questions, comments, praise or complaints. In
addition, there's a Trading Post where one can sell or buy, Gear
Review and Recalls, Game Recipes to check out or you may add your own,
and a section listing Guides and Outfitters you may want to contact
for information on a future hunting or fishing trip, or comment on a
trip you're already taken.
There are maps of Rhode Island's Wildlife Management Areas, an ATV
section, and a special forum section for Bow Hunters, Shot gunners,
Muzzle Loaders, trappers, upland game, water fowlers, and turkey
hunters. Also, Women in the Outdoors, young hunters, disabled hunters
the laws and equipment, and sporting dogs.
The firearms forum covers guns, reloading, black powder, and clays for
sports, skeet and trap shooting, offering tips and techniques. Bow
hunters can get information on the latest equipment and how too set
up, tune, and shoot your bow. In addition, a gear review of arrows,
broadheads, bows, and targets can be found here, besides a list of
area sportsmen's Clubs.
There's a forum section for piscators who enjoy fishing in fresh and
saltwater, a fly fishing section, and an area set aside for those
submitting pictures of catches made in Ocean state and other waters by
an angler, with a few making the state record book at times.
There's a forum section containing columns authored by
Providence-based Anna Minicucci and other area outdoor writers with
what's happening in the outdoors in the Ocean state, New England and
states across the country besides.
Sponsors of the site are also listed; included are Bullseye Shooting
Supplies, Dave's Wholesale Guns, Eastern Security Safe, Wayne's Place
in Pascoag, and Beverly and George's Big Bear Hunting and Fishing
Supply on Rte. 44 in Harmony.
Also included on Mingain's site are 3-D shoots, R.I. bow hunter,
Hunter Safety Courses and shooters clinics statewide and in the Bay
state with who to contact, the days and times It's a site to behold.
Links to RIDEM can be visited for regulations on the fishing and
hunting scene. The site is also assisting Brian Tefft, DEM's turkey
project leader, asking Rhode Islanders who observe turkey flocks in
their neighborhood to count the birds seen and where, and reporting
this information to RIHunts.com. This will be reported directly to
Tefft at DEM.
