Mingain's web site provides plenty
February 22, 2005
People often ask me why I launched my website. Well, I’ll tell you, it
was created out of frustration. Being on the internet for many hours a
day as a webmaster for a fortune 100 company at one point in my life,
I knew that I could bring a lot to the table as far as a “one-
stop-shop” web site went. That’s when I decided to look ahead and
created the website with many valuable links to be used as a reference
guide for the public, hunters, trappers, and fishermen of Rhode
Island. The site is also available as a sources of information to
computer operators nationally and world wide.
What you should expect to find at the site:
Hunting information- Northeast Big Buck Club R.I., game movement
calendar, tide, sunrise sunset information, fishing information and
links to DEM. Calendar-Local events on line, hunter education schedule
and seasons for game. R.I.’s Wildlife Management Areas with link to
DEM’s Geographic Viewer. User Forums-Area for individuals, clubs and
sponsors to discuss hunting, fishing, shooting and everything
hunting-related. Also featuring outdoor columns by Bill Bodnar and
Anna Minicucci. Sporting Clubs-a directory of the Ocean states’
sportsmen’s clubs with links to their sites. (If a club doesn’t have
one we provide them with a free one-page site.) Links to archery,
hunting, shooting, agencies, manufacturers, R. I Government and
anything else hunting-related. Photo Gallery - RI Hunters and their
harvests of deer, waterfowl, turkey and upland game. Business
Directory listing local businesses that cater to the area’s sportsmen.
Quick links can be found at the top of the site that will take you to
the local weather and marine forecasts, RIDEM'S hunting abstracts,
hunter education schedule, ProJo Outdoors, FRISC, NRA, Gun Owners of
America and Big Bear Hunting and Fishing Supply. Join the site’s
mailing list and get a weekly email report of what’s happening and
site news. If DEM or Projo issues a press release or important news it
will be relayed to you as quickly as possible.
A bit of history and site statistics. The website was launched in
November, 2003, and since then our numbers have been increasing
steadily. From January through November of 2004 over 34,300 persons
have visited the site, and 427,000 pages have been displayed. On
average, 3,100 have visited the site each month, and the numbers are
expected to grow in the future.
Here’s a brief list of the site’s sponsors. All Things Hunting,
Harrisville, R.I. Bailey-Flood Ford, Narragansett, R.I., Big Bear
Hunting and Fishing Supply, Harmony, R.I. Blue Mountain Outfitters,
N.M., Bucklore Hunting Adventure, NY, Bullseye Shooting Supplies,
