Location and Access
Burlingame Wildlife Management Area is located entirely within the
town of Charlestown, RI. The Burlingame Wildlife Management Area is
bordered to the south by the Burlingame State Park which is closed to
public hunting. Access to Burlingame Management Area is located north
of Buckeye Brook Road at Clawson Trail. Topographic quad maps for

Habitat
Burlingame covers a total area of 1390 acres. The area is composed
primarily of forest cover (deciduous 906 acres, evergreen 72 acres),
with wetlands (377 acres), and agricultural land (14 acres) and other
areas (20 acres) covering the balance. The DFW maintains a small
(approximately 5 acres) wildlife marsh within the northeast section of
the area.
Wildlife
Typical game mammals found within Burlingame include cottontail
rabbit, white-tailed deer and furbearers such as fox, raccoon,
muskrat, and coyote. Game birds within the Burlingame management area
include ruffed grouse, wild turkey, woodcock, and waterfowl. The
diverse habitats which are present also support numerous species of
non-game wildlife with ample opportunity for the observation of these
species (songbirds, amphibians, reptiles and insects) available.
